Seva
These plates are naivedya: food arranged on the shrine floor, then shared. The Ashram kitchen feeds the shrine first, and the people of the day after.
A gift of grain is arranged by writing first, so the kitchen can receive what it can cook. Sweets prepared for offering already live in the Ashram archive.
Under a tarp on the grass, people eat from banana leaves while someone moves along the line with a bucket. This is the Ashram’s community meal — hospitality you can sit down to.
Folded white cloth — some of it marked with the Foundation seal — leaves this table into waiting hands. A clothing day in the village: bags passing, a public queue, a working threshold.
Two earlier distributions are dated on the official YouTube channel: Guruma Minakshi Devyomba’s advent tithi, 13 May 2024 and 29 April 2025. Cloth still leaves a table into hands.
Seva is often this: a packet, a glance, a line of people sitting on the plinth while the shrine stays open behind them. The Ashram temple is a working threshold.
A shamiana raised beside a hall, empty chairs in afternoon light — a gathering prepared, waiting for the village to sit.
Not every seva is a parcel. The Ashram also sits in the cultural life of Birbhum. Hridaya-Milan Utsav in Santiniketan is a public literary-cultural programme the Ashram attended — a greeting with garlands, a stage, a hall.
Kirtan with Purna Das Baul and Suman Bhattacharya remains on the Ashram’s record. Evening kirtan at the Ashram continues — confirm the hour by telephone, then come sit.
Seva at this Ashram is the other face of puja. The Divine is in the shrine, the neighbour, the kitchen, and the quiet of evening kirtan. Come with your hands. The work is already going.
